The 2017 official St. Maarten Heineken Regatta gear is now available island wide. The Regatta Office has partnered with Shipwreck Shops St. Maarten and Gill North America to once again produce both a cotton line and a technical line to satisfy a variety of regatta customers. The merchandise can be found at Shipwreck Shops and Budget Marine St. Maarten, giving collectors more than 15 locations on island where customers can pick up their favorite souvenirs. Additionally, both clothing lines will be sold at all venue locations and at registration which takes place at the Sint Maarten Yacht Club.
“Shipwreck Shops St. Maarten has produced a great line of collectable regatta merchandise. This year’s collection, which includes hoodies, t-shirts, beach totes, long sleeve pullovers, koozies and much more, can be found at the 14 Shipwreck Shops locations island wide. The vibrant colors and high quality materials make sure that the items customers pick up this year can be worn and treasured for many years to come.” advised Karen Richardson, Operations Manager of Shipwreck Shops St. Maarten.
The regatta merchandise has been developed over the course of more than 25 years of the event, starting off with a container of printed white t-shirts bought by the Yacht Club and sold out of the registration container. A few years later it branched off to Shipwreck Shops St. Maarten who began to expand the collection with quality shirts, caps, visors and other fun souvenirs.
Today the clothing line commands many months of design work, distribution and effort to make sure that the regatta sailors, visitors and staff have a variety of high quality collectable products to choose from. “We enjoy working with the event to assure that the logos and branding meet the strict guidelines of both the Yacht Club and Heineken.” mentioned Richardson.
Gill North America, which manufactures a wide range of foul weather and sun protective clothing and accessories suited for the marine environment, has listened to the sailors to provide the technical gear that the regatta participants are demanding.
“After attending the CSA Regatta Organizers Conference earlier this year, Gill North America is now in high gear producing a unique collection of technical clothing for the 37th St. Maarten Heineken Regatta and the Gill Commodores Cup. This year we are supplying the Sint Maarten Yacht Club and ILTT (distributors of Heineken on St. Maarten) specially styled UV shirts and trucker caps to better promote the outstanding Heineken brand and amazing regatta event.” stated President of Gill North America, David Pritchard.
“The unique and distinct Gill/HR 37 collection will be available for sale at the airport and in Phillipsburg in the months leading up to the event. Budget Marine will also have stock at its Simpson Bay store and on site during the regatta. In addition to the HR 37 technical collection, Gill will be showcasing several new styles including its new race series. A perfect collection for racing in while at the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta!” said Pritchard.
When asked what he liked most about the event Pritchard stated “Perfect racing conditions- warm water and wind, great race management and iconic Heineken island parties, all set in the back drop of St. Maarten. What’s not to like! Sounds like serious fun!”
