Gill Commodore’s Cup officially opens for registration

The Gill Commodore’s Cup is accepting entries effective immediately and interested sailors may enter online via the regatta website www.heinekenregatta.com. This pre-event acts as the perfect warm-up race to the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta and most boats are eligible to enter. Currently in its 10th year, the Gill Commodore’s Cup will take place March 3rd, 2016. It promises to offer exciting races and intense competition and race organizers are hoping to top last year’s record entry of 81 boats.
Sponsored by Gill, this stand-alone event lets the racers fine tune their boats, while enjoying challenging races in some of the best sailing conditions found around the world. Mr. David Pritchard, President of Gill North America, has been involved in the event since the very first year that Gill became the title sponsor.
In speaking with David, he mentioned “Gill is delighted that the Gill Commodore’s Cup was such a success in 2015, bringing in over 80 participants together to race in now what is known as one of the largest one-day events in the Caribbean! The racing is a fantastic warm-up event to the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta and Gill is pleased to be able to sponsor the 2016 event.
The Gill Commodore’s Cup is open to all types of boats, charter and race boats, and gives everyone the chance to enjoy an additional day of racing. Gill is the technical gear provider for the regatta, and we will have a new line of regatta branded soft shells, UV Tech shirts as well as shorts and hats, all of which will be available in the months leading up the event online, at Budget Marine St. Maarten stores beginning December 1st, 2015 as well as during the event at all venue locations.”

From there participants can choose to register for both the Gill Commodore’s Cup as well as the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta. If unable to access the internet, potential racers can stop by the regatta office at the Sint Maarten Yacht Club and the friendly staff can assist you with entering your boat.
