Greater selection of Official Regatta Gear for the 35th St.Maarten Heineken Regatta

With regatta organizers celebrating 35 years of Serious Fun, merchandisers Gill and Shipwreck Shops rose to the occasion and have produced a line worthy of this remarkable celebration. The technical racing gear, produced by Gill, offers a variety of choices that include UV protection as well as breathable and waterproof fabric. Shipwreck Shops, provides the event with a variety of cotton products, and will focus this year on the “Serious Fun” side of the event. Both lines of merchandise are already available at all Shipwreck Shops and at Budget Marine stores on island. And will be r available for purchase at registration and all venue locations.
Shipwreck Shops has been a sponsor of the St.Maarten Heineken Regatta for more than 15 years, providing a variety of merchandise. Starting out with simple t-shirts, they have evolved the line over the years and have introduced the HR branding to the regatta gear. For the 35th edition of the event, they have taken the cotton wear to another level and switched focus to the “Serious Fun” side of the regatta.
“This is the first time we have come out with a completely different line. We are not focusing on the ‘HR brand’ anymore but instead we are creating a ‘Serious Fun promotion’, through new and innovative art work. We have two different suppliers producing the line with guaranteed quality: MV Sports, the US Open golf provider, and AHEAD Sports gear, top supplier of caps and polo’s. This year we will also introduce some original items such as the famous MV blankets and sweaters. In addition we are concentrating on quality and fun, and the colours are amazing this year” said Flavia da Silva, General Manager of Shipwreck Shops.
Because there is such a difference between regular cotton wear and technical sailing gear, the regatta has teamed up once again with one of the industry’s leading technical apparel manufacturers, Gill North America. Their innovative clothing gives sailors what they want, UV protection for those hot Caribbean days on the water, and weatherproof fabric that leaves them cool and dry while out racing. The regatta line this year includes a selection of jackets, technical shirts, as well as shorts and sailing caps. There is certainly something for everyone.
According to David Pritchard, President of Gill North America “We will have a nice collection of HR35 branded Gill technical UV gear for sale during the entire St.Maarten Heineken Regatta. Gill is also giving away cool new gear as Gill Commodores’ Cup awards and the overall winner will receive technical UV 50+ tech shirts for the crew.” In addition we have also made some unique VIP gear for Heineken St.Maarten and their team including a special HR35 watch”
The watch is the first of its kind for the regatta and organizers are excited to be able to have this for sale for $110 during the event. Participants and spectators have a wealth of regatta merchandise to choose from.
Regatta gear is one of the best ways to show off that you actually attended the event, so make sure to visit the venues and check out the merchandise tents for your souvenirs.
