The Regatta Village will bring together in one place all the essentials of a great regatta venue: docking, registration, regatta offices, food stands, bars, (merchandise) vendors and entertainment. But what exactly can you expect? Or better; what not?
The mornings will kick-off with some delicious breakfast from La Sucriere Bakery. Sailors can enjoy a coffee and a croissant, while preparing for the race. Sandwiches for lunch can be ordered to take out on the boats. After the sailors get back from racing, the fun-filled Regatta Village will be open for each and everyone and will be located at the grass area in front of the North Marina of Yacht Club Port de Plaisance.
Come and enjoy some great food from vendors no other than Topper’s, Gigi’s, Agi Pasta Away, Domino’s and Johnny B. For the more thirsty people among us, International Liquor and Tobacco Trading has a fully stocked bar with Heineken beer, liquor, Fiji Water, Justin & Landmark wines and others. Do you rather like a fresh fruit smoothie? No worries, Dany from Island Smoothies moves his cart from Airport Road to the Regatta Village for the week. A nice cocktail from the Mojito Lemon Bar can also be enjoyed.
Every afternoon will be filled with tons of activities from our sponsors and fundraising partners. UTS has a full sales- and play zone setup for you, where even phones can be charged. Buy your data-bundle package at their tent to be online throughout the Regatta. You can row to rescue with Sea Rescue, participate in a tie-a-knot competition with K1 Britannia or guess the amount of Heineken beers in a Laser Pico at the St. Maarten Yacht Club booth, with the winner taking the beer home.
Other vendors will be Shipwreck and Gill, with their official St. Maarten Heineken Regatta gear, Solstice with all kinds of inflatables and DAS Cigars with their hand-rolled cigars. The St. Maarten & Saba Tourism Offices will also be available to promote both destinations and welcome all sailors back to the island(s). For the gamblers among us; Real Auto raffles off a brand-new Suzuki during the Regatta, with tickets going for only $10 a ticket!
Are you a bit tired after the racing? Take a seat in the Fiji lounge or taste one of their Justin & Landmark wines on display. The Regatta Village will have ample seating available, so you can enjoy your food while talking along with your fellow sailors. Not to be missed either, will be the tv screens that show daily footage and the most up-to-date results.
To already get in the concert-mood, the Regatta Village will offer live-entertainment every afternoon from 3.30pm. Some great local performances are lined up, like JonnyGuy, Alfredo, Tanya & Amin, Stell & Snuggs and Franco & Lee. Also, don’t forget the daily prize-giving on Friday and Saturday at 6pm.
A local Regatta Marketplace will be setup under the big tent where the Thursday night parties used to be, with all kinds of arts & craft vendors selling their artistic pieces. We’re also working with local artists who have created our Regatta trophies this year made from Hurricane debris. An Art Exhibition will be setup under the same tent, where the artists will showcase their work. The marketplace will be open from Thursday to Sunday, between 4 – 9pm.
Please remember that it’s a token-only event. Tokens can be bought at one of the token booths, where you can either pay with cash, credit card, your local Windward Islands Bank card and even with Fun Miles. Don’t forget that you earn Fun Miles when you pay with your local WIB card! And even better: with every 10 tokens, you’ll receive a raffle ticket to hand in at the Fun Miles tent. The winner of the raffle will receive 25,000 Miles!
The Regatta Village will be open on Tuesday and Wednesday from 10am – 8pm and on racing days as soon as the sailors get off the water till the end of the Concerts. The Sol Water Taxi service ensures you can get from your boat to the venue and water shuttles will run between the St. Maarten Yacht Club and Port de Plaisance. For the general public there’s lots of parking space available on the premises.
Don’t forget to secure your event tickets for the Saturday and Sunday night concerts with Destra and Shaggy. Tickets will be sold at the Event Ticket Booth in the Regatta Village. Sailors can choose to buy a Sailors Entertainment Package for $75 which allows them access to the Sailors Lounge at all Concert nights and includes admission to the Saturday & Sunday night event.
Can you not make it to the Regatta Village? Tune in on the official radio station of the Regatta, Island92, who will live-broadcast from the Regatta Village!
