The outpouring of support from the racing community has been overwhelming, and it was clear early on that camaraderie would be at the heart of this year’s regatta. And now, with the generous support of Princess Port de Plaisance Resort and Casino and the Yacht Club at Port de Plaisance, the regatta will be based in a ‘regatta village’ that will encourage that camaraderie by bringing together in one place all the essentials of a great regatta venue: docking, registration, regatta offices, food stands, and beer tents.  In addition, The Yacht Club Port de Plaisance will be offering free dockage in their South Basin for competitors as their way of saying thanks for supporting the regatta this year.
 
“A single regatta village venue has long been a goal for us: a place for competitors to tie their boats up next to each other, walk a few steps and share a beer and a burger while swapping stories and some ‘sailing karate’ with fellow competitors after a day of great racing is such an important part of a regatta” according to Paul Miller, Racing Director, “and Princess Port de Plaisance fits that bill perfectly.” Offering a full-service, professionally run marina with slips for yachts up to 260 ft. and draft to 15 ft., the marina can, between the North and South basins, hold more than half the usual number of boats entering the regatta. For competitors staying in other marinas or at anchor, the Sol water taxi and shuttle services will run regularly to key locations including the Sint Maarten Yacht Club during the regatta.
 
Both The Princess Port de Plaisance Resort and Casino and The Yacht Club at Port de Plaisance are pleased with the new partnership for the 2018 event. Mr. Sudi Ozkan, owner of Princess Port de Plaisance Resort and Casino says: “I am very pleased to make our resort available to the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta and to support this great St. Maarten event”. Jeff Boyd, Managing Director of The Yacht Club at Port de Plaisance adds: “We are pleased to be able to make the marina facilities available to the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta this year and look forward to having the participants gathered in one location. While we were certainly Battered and Bruised from the storm, our commitment and desire to see this exciting and important event take place this year is a priority for us.”
 
For the 38th St. Maarten Heineken Regatta, The Princess Port de Plaisance Resort and Casino and The Yacht Club at Port de Plaisance are offering free dockage during the week of the regatta in the South Basin for competing boats. The regatta office will assign these free spaces on a first-come basis to fully-paid entries. In addition, the marina will have available 60 slips in the North Basin for entrants.
