The “Boardwalk Market” is intended for the Philipsburg Beach Promenade venue on Friday, March 4th, and will extend from the Cyrus Wathey Square up until the new Walter Plantz Square. St. Maarten Heineken Regatta organizers are hoping to broaden the experience of the event attendees and look forward to welcoming some of the islands talented artists and organizations to the market.
“The goal of this Boardwalk Market is to provide visitors and residents of the island with a new experience during the regatta while at the same time providing a location for local artists to showcase their work. The island has so many talented artists, and we realized that many visitors to the event never get to see that side of St. Maarten, so we thought this is a way that we can bring the artists and their work to the public. We are eager to be able to showcase the different talents that the island has, and we are hoping that the general public will also come out and enjoy this new concept.” said Regatta Director Michelle van der Werff.
The Market will also be open to local non-profit organizations who want to use it as a platform to show the public what their groups represent. Whether you are a sports organization that is looking to recruit new members for your team or perhaps you would like to showcase what your organization has been up to in the last year, the Boardwalk Market may be just the venue for you. Non-profits such as animal welfare organizations, cultural groups, sports and organizations are welcome to apply.
Applications are being accepted and will be reviewed on a rolling basis until all available spots and/or categories are filled. There is a fee per 10×10 spot to cover cost of set up. Applicants will be notified within 10 days of submitting their completed form. Spaces are limited so it is advised to apply as early as possible.
