The Sint Maarten Heineken Regatta Organizers thank the SHTA and Hotels for supporting the 2017 Regatta

They would like to thank their long-time supporters such as Holland House Beach Hotel, Simpson Bay Resort and the Belair Beach Hotel which allows the Regatta Organization to accommodate their indispensable international judges, race officials and media team who come to the island from all over the world.
Regatta Director Michelle van der Werff explains, “Like any other year, this 37th edition of the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta can only exist because of an island-wide effort, as well as the generous sponsors, countless volunteers and numerous local organizations who offer their excellent services.”
“One of our goals is to generate return visitors, not solely for the Regatta, but also in low season as the island has so many other things to offer. We strive to give the visitors the experience that makes them willing to come back year after year. By having our Race Officials and Media Team stay in hotels, we hope they will inform their friends and families about this great island and its fantastic hotels,” continues Ms. Van der Werff.
Additionally, both the Sonesta Maho and the Sonesta Great Bay, two of the bigger resorts on the island, are donating two rooms to the Regatta Organization and giving up to a 40% discount to the general public during the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta which can be accessed by using promo code REGATTA 17 on their online booking system.
The Regatta Organizers are also proud to welcome two other new hotel supporters this year, The Commodore Suites and Le Beach Hotel. Commodore Suites is perfectly located right in the middle of all the Regatta festivities and offers discounts to Regatta participants by using promo code HR2017 on their online booking system. Le Beach Hotel, located in Marigot Bay on French St. Martin, is the official “Beach Cat Hotel” for Regatta and offers a 30% discount to all Regatta participants.
After a first successful year as supporter of the Regatta, The Alegria Resort, located close to the most popular tourist attraction of Maho Beach, has returned to support the event. The Regatta Organizers also welcome back The Atrium Beach Resort & Spa, Divi Little Bay Resort, The Summit Resort Hotel, Horizon View Beach Hotel and Carl’s Unique Inn.
Ms. van der Werff adds, “We always claim it takes a whole island to throw a party this big and it’s true. Without the support of the local community and businesses, the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta would have never become the biggest Regatta in the Caribbean. We are very proud and thankful of the support of the hotels.”
All hotels are represented by the St. Maarten Hospitality and Trades Association (SHTA), who has been supporting the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta for many years. This association assists the Regatta by working together with the many hotels on the island to assure the guests and hotels are involved in the event as much as possible.
Wyb Meijer, Executive Director of the SHTA states, “As the largest private sector organization reinforcing sustainable economic growth, the SHTA sees the event as a very valuable partner in reaching its goals of further development of the St. Maarten hospitality, trade and society at large.”
